Farmingdale man arrested in 3 thefts, police say

A Farmingdale man was arrested on Saturday in thefts from three Farmingdale businesses, Nassau County police said.
Police said Adam Halpern, 50, was caught on surveillance camera on July 23, 2013, at Walgreens on Main Street putting items in a bag and then leaving without paying.
Police said they then found that a surveillance tape from early on Jan. 30, 2014 at the Citgo on Merritts Road showed Halpern prying open the front door, then taking money from a cash register.
Another tape, also dated Jan. 30, 2014, showed Halpern forcing open the door at the 182 Candy Shop on Merritts Road, then taking lottery tickets and money from the cash register, police said.
Police arrested Halpern at his Glenn Court home shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday and charged him with petit larceny, third-degree criminal mischief and two counts of third-degree burglary. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.
