Two teenage pedestrians were injured Friday afternoon in Farmingdale when a car went out of control and struck them, Nassau police said.

A 16-year-old boy was hospitalized in critical condition with a head injury, police said, and a 16-year-old girl was treated for an arm injury and released.

A 17-year-old Farmingdale driver was unable to negotiate a sharp curve on Parkdale Drive at 2:19 p.m., police said. His car, a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero, struck the teenagers who were standing at the curb, police said.

The Oldsmobile was impounded for safety checks, but police said, there was no apparent criminality in the accident.
