Driver killed in crash on Northern State Parkway in Plainview, State Police say
A male driver was killed after his vehicle hit a tree on the Northern State Parkway in Plainview on Tuesday morning, which briefly closed all eastbound lanes, officials said.
The driver, Victor H. Alvarez, 48, of Bethpage, was pronounced dead at the scene, State Police said in a news release.
The vehicle's female passenger, Iris Y. Rodriguez, 23, of Bethpage, was taken to Nassau University Medical Center, State Police said.
The crash happened at 6:43 a.m. at Exit 38.
The right eastbound lane was closed after the crash until about 11:20 a.m., State Police said. The left lane was also closed from about 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., according to the state Department of Transportation.
State Police asked anyone who may have seen the crash to call the Farmingdale troop at 631-756-3300.
