A 31-year-old motorcyclist was killed Tuesday evening when his motorcycle collided with a car that turned in front of him in Woodbury, Nassau County police said.

Police said the motorcyclist was headed west on Jericho Turnpike near Crossways  Park Drive on a 2020 Yamaha when a 28-year-old man driving an east in a 2016 Toyota Camry attempted to make a left turn into the Fairhaven Apartment complex at 6:18 p.m. The force of the collision ejected the motorcyclist, who suffered what police called "multiple trauma injuries."

The motorcyclist was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Police said the driver of the Camry suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital, where he was treated and released.

Police did not release the identities of anyone involved, pending notification of next of kin.

The investigation into the cause of the crash continues, police said.
