Michael DeMedina, 64, of Hempstead killed crossing Peninsula Boulevard, police say

A Hempstead man was killed Wednesday morning crossing Peninsula Boulevard in Hempstead after he was hit by a pickup truck, Nassau police said.
Police said Michael DeMedina, 64, was crossing the road near South Franklin Street at 8 a.m. when a 2011 Toyota Tundra hit him as the driver was turning left on Franklin.
The driver remained at the scene, and DeMedina was declared dead by authorities. .
No further information was immediately available.
