ALBANY - Special elections will be held Feb. 9 on Long Island to fill two vacancies in the Assembly under a proclamation issued Tuesday by Gov. David A. Paterson.

Voters in Suffolk County's 3rd Assembly District will decide who succeeds Patricia Eddington (D-Medford), who was elected Brookhaven Town clerk in November.

The district includes Patchogue, Medford, portions of Fire Island and other communities along the county's South Shore.

The special election in Nassau County's 15th Assembly District is to fill the seat of Rob Walker (R-Hicksville), who resigned Friday to work for Nassau Executive Edward Mangano. Walker is chief deputy county executive.

The district encompasses the northern portion of Oyster Bay Town and parts of North Hempstead and Hempstead towns.
