Feds: Long Beach doctor sold painkiller prescriptions
Federal agents arrested a Long Beach doctor on Wednesday, charging him with selling opiate prescriptions, according to an FBI official.
Dr. Devi Reddy, 65, is charged with selling prescriptions for OxyContin, a powerful opiate painkiller, said FBI spokesman James Margolin.
Reddy's office on East Park Avenue was being searched by FBI agents after his arrest. The raid was conducted by members of the multiagency Health Care Fraud Task force. No other information about the arrest was immediately available.
Reddy is to be arraigned Wednesday in federal court in Manhattan.
Reddy graduated from medical school in Hyderabad, India, in 1970 and got his license in 1976, according to the American Medical Association's directory of physicians. The doctor's specialty is internal medicine.
