Felony DWI charge for Freeport man in parkway crash
A Freeport man who drove his Honda into the back end of another car Saturday on the Southern State Parkway in North Bellmore faces a felony charge for drunken driving, State Police said Monday.
Daniel Vazquez, 26, of 387 Guy Lombardo Ave., hit the back of a black Chevrolet near Exit 25, Newbridge Road, at about 9:19 p.m., police said.
When troopers arrived at the scene, Vazquez allegedly smelled of alcohol, the report said. He also failed sobriety tests and was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. Vazquez provided a breath-analyzer reading of .11 percent, police said.
Because Vazquez also had an arrest for driving while intoxicated within the past 10 years, police said Saturday's charge is a felony.
Vazquez also is charged with several traffic violations. Arraignment information at First District Court in Hempstead was not immediately available.
