At least two people were seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision in Merrick on Monday, authorities said.

Merrick Fire Chief Paul Waterman said firefighters were dispatched about 6:30 p.m. to the scene of the crash at Sunrise Highway and Hewlett Avenue.

Waterman said a female passenger was ejected and a second female passenger from the same vehicle had to be cut free.

Four people were transported to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, two with head trauma and two with neck and back injuries, he said.

Waterman said the crash was a T-bone collision.

Nassau County police could not immediately provide details on the collision Monday night.

Pictures of the collision showed a Honda with the right-side doors missing.

Westbound Sunrise was closed at Hewlett, Waterman said.
