Fire damages Massapequa bagel shop
The Nassau County Fire Marshal's office is investigating a fire that began in the utility room of a bagel shop Sunday afternoon around 1:30 p.m. and caused extensive damage to the eatery.
More than 50 firefighters responded to the fire at Bagel Pro on the corner of Broadway and Boston Avenue, said Massapequa Fire Department First Assistant Chief Gerard Keuchler.
The fire, which took about 30 minutes to put out, did not spread into other shops in the strip mall where the bagel shop is located.
No injuries were reported.
The cause is being investigated, Keuchler said.
