Firefighters were on the scene before dawn Tuesday when a vacant house on Camp Road in East Massapequa burst into flame. When units arrived just before 5 a.m., flames were shooting from the entire second floor and part of the roof. Two Massapequa firefighters sustained minor leg injuries and were taken to hospitals for treatment. The fire also damaged a neighboring house. The blaze was under control in about 40 minutes, and firefighters cleaned up until about 7 a.m. The South Farmingdale Fire Department assisted the Massapequa department at the scene, and units from Amityville, Seaford and Wantagh departments were on standby. Firefighters battled a blaze that fully engulfed a vacant house in Massapequa before dawn Tuesday.

No one was injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Nassau County Arson / Bomb Squad and the Fire Marshal's Office.

The fire at the house on Camp Road was reported at about 4 a.m., police said.

About 80 firefighters from Massapequa, South Farmingdale, Wantagh Amityville and Seaford responded to the scene with a dozen pieces of equipment.

Fire officials said the blaze was under control in about 40 minutes and the scene was cleaned up by about 7 a.m.
