Jerusalem Pizza in Lawrence closed after serious fire

A Lawrence pizzeria is temporarily closed after 150 firefighters responded to a two-alarm fire that broke out at its storefront early Tuesday.
Around 3:33 a.m., the Lawrence Cedarhurst Fire Department was dispatched to Jerusalem Pizza, located in a row of stores on Central Avenue near Rockaway Turnpike, the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office said in a news release.
Firefighters transmitted a second alarm as the fire extended into another store.
The Inwood, Woodmere, Valley Stream, Hewlett, Elmont, Freeport, Rockville Centre and Lakeview fire departments helped to bring the fire under control in about 90 minutes.
A deputy county fire coordinator from the fire marshal's office also responded to the scene. Atlantic Beach Rescue and Nassau County Fire Marshal drone teams checked for hot spots.
The business will be closed due to the extensive damage from the fire, Deputy Fire Coordinator Nicholas Corrado told Newsday.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
