Nassau Supreme Court briefly evacuated, smoke seen from building
Nassau State Supreme Court in Mineola was briefly evacuated Friday afternoon because of an apparent fire on the southwest side of the building.
The lights inside the courthouse began flickering late Friday afternoon and the building was evacuated around 3:30 p.m.
Court officers later said there was a minor electrical fire in a generator in the basement and the evacuation was a precaution.
Those evacuated had been allowed back in the building by late Friday afternoon.
The Garden City Fire Department is on the scene.
