Firefighters battle Uniondale blaze

Firefighters from more than a half-dozen departments are battling a blaze at a beverage center in Uniondale early Tuesday morning, officials said.

The fire on Nassau Road was reported at around 6 a.m., Nassau County fire officials said. The northbound lanes of Brookside Avenue have been closed as a result of the fire, police said.

It was not immediately clear what departments were involved. The cause of the fire also was not known.

Police and fire officials said the scene remained active at 6:45 a.m. and said details were still emerging on the incident.
