A fire at a gourmet grocery store in Cedarhurst was quickly extinguished Thursday morning without injury, police said.

The fire at the Gourmet Glatt Emporium on Spruce Street was reported at 12:25 a.m., Nassau County fire officials said. Police originally said it was believed the fire was at a nearby convenience store on Washington Avenue.

Volunteers from the Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department responded to the scene and quickly dealt with a fire, which is believed to have started in the basement.

The Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the blaze, which does not appear suspicious.
