Five people were arrested on weapons charges - and two handguns were recovered - following a call about shots fired in Levittown early Saturday, police said.

The shots were fired in the vicinity of 2715 Hempstead Tpke. at 12:54 a.m., according to Nassau County police.

On arrival officers found spent .40-caliber and .45-caliber shell casings on the ground - and were told by witnesses that five people had fled the scene in a white Cadillac Escalade and white BMW, police said.

The two cars, which fled westbound on Hempstead Turnpike, had been seen entering Wantagh Parkway.

The BMW was stopped on the Southern State Parkway, police said, where Korrin Walton, 27, of 48 Terrace Ave., Freeport, was arrested. Bureau of Special Operations officers stopped the Escalade in Roosevelt, where they arrested Mikis Brim, 28, of 23 Hausch Blvd., Roosevelt; Ronald Scott, 31, of 21 West Centennial Ave., Roosevelt; and Antonio Baker, 26, of 79 E. Clinton Ave., Roosevelt.

Police said Kimberly Veasey, 23, of 21 West Centennial Ave., was later arrested.

Walton was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of marijuana and vehicle and traffic law violations, police said.

Police said Brim "made hand movements" toward his waist upon exiting the Escalade - and was arrested following what was described as a struggle with police. Police said he was found to "have a firearm secreted in his waistband."

He was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest, police said.

Scott and Baker were both charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, first-degree reckless endangerment and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Scott was additionally charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.

Veasey was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Police said a .40-caliber Taurus pistol and a .45-caliber Vickers were recovered.

All five arrested were arraigned Sunday in First District Court in Hempstead. Arraignment details were not immediately available.
