The rapper known as Flavor Flav appeared in a Mineola courtroom Tuesday, before a judge adjourned until May the criminal case stemming from his arrest on a Long Island parkway as he drove to his mother's funeral.

The 54-year-old musician, whose real name is William Drayton, previously has pleaded not guilty to the January felony charge of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and the violations of speeding and marijuana possession.

"Just trying to get this over with as fast as possible so I can get back to my life in Vegas," he told reporters Tuesday, after removing his signature clock pendant to go through the court's metal detector.

Drayton gave fans hugs and fist bumps in a court hallway, and they exchanged wishes for good luck in their respective court cases.

The rapper was part of Public Enemy, a group inducted in 2013 in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Drayton is a Las Vegas resident but a Freeport native.
