The Village of Floral Park on Tuesday unanimously approved the purchase of a new 32-foot fire truck for its Atlantic Firehouse.

The truck will cost $758,247 and will come from New Hyde Park-based Neville Apparatus Corp. Trustee Lynn Pombonyo, who is the board’s liaison to the fire department, said Tuesday that the new truck will replace the department’s current one, which is almost 25 years old. Pombonyo added that the new truck can accommodate a 24-foot ladder, surpassing the current truck’s 20-foot ladder capability. She said the truck will likely take a year to arrive.

During Tuesday’s meeting, the board also approved a $417,552 contract with Bellmore-based Kenco Designs to renovate the firehouse so that the new truck can fit inside. Pombonyo said the firehouse’s garage door will be widened, and an interior wall will be pushed back 6 feet to accommodate the truck.
