Four charged after gun found at Roosevelt traffic stop
The car was doing 50 mph in a 30-mph zone Wednesday night in Roosevelt, police said.
So officers stopped it, and as the driver got out of the gray 2010 Infiniti, police said the officers spotted a handgun in a handbag.
Nassau County police said the plainclothes officers arrested all four people in the car following the stop on Sunrise Highway in Merrick at 10:45 p.m. Arrested and charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon were the driver, Stephanie Jones, 25, of Rutland Road, Hempstead; Lloyd Madison, 24, of North Ocean Avenue, Freeport; Victor Moore, 20, of Amherst Street, Hempstead; and Maurice Vanderbilt, 25, of East Pennywood Avenue, Roosevelt, police said.
The four were scheduled for arraignment Thursday in First District Court, Hempstead.
Police said the car was first observed speeding on Babylon Turnpike in Roosevelt. A Hi-Point Firearms .9-millimeter pistol was recovered, they said.
