Four treated for smoke inhalation after Hempstead fire
Four people were taken to hospitals to be treated for smoke inhalation after a Hempstead Village apartment building fire Wednesday night, police said.
Hempstead Police Lt. Ed Hayman said the fire in an apartment at 621 Front St. started about 8:16 p.m., and was quickly extinguished, but the fire destroyed that one-third floor apartment.
Final determination as to the cause of the fire will be made after a fire marshal's office investigation, he said, but it appears to have been electrical in origin.
