Police: Man arrested twice this week in different burglaries
A picture may be worth a thousand words, but in the case of Francisco J. Palacios, it was also worth an arrest.
Palacios, 26, of West Hempstead was arrested Wednesday after his fingerprints were matched to items moved during an Oct. 31 burglary in Garden City, Nassau police said.
He was arrested again Thursday after a restaurant owner saw his photograph in an article about the Garden City burglary and recognized him as the same man seen on surveillance video from a 2013 burglary of his business.
Palacios was charged with third-degree burglary and second-degree criminal mischief in the thefts from Italian Bistro on East Old Country Road in Mineola on Oct. 14, 2013.
In that burglary, police said, Palacios stole cash and caused "extensive damage to the rear door and windows."
Police said Palacios was already in the Nassau County jail in East Meadow, unable to post the $2,500 bond or cash bail stemming from his arrest in the Garden City burglary, when he was arrested Thursday by Bureau of Special Operations officers.
In the Garden City burglary, fingerprints recovered from items at Coach Realtors on Seventh Street were matched to Palacios, police said.
Palacios was to be arraigned Friday in First District Court in Hempstead in connection with the 2013 burglary, police said.
He is scheduled to appear in court Monday on the Garden City charges.
