Franklin Square man arrested in gun incident

A Franklin Square man was arrested early Sunday and charged with criminal possession of a weapon after another man reported he pointed a gun at him on a street in Franklin Square, Nassau police said.

A 47-year-old man was speaking on a cellphone in front of 920 Hempstead Tpke. at 2:12 a.m. when he saw Michael Osborne, 37, of 906 Hempstead Tpke., take a handgun from his waistband and point it toward the street, police said.

Osborne then pointed the gun toward the man, who ducked behind a light pole and called police.

Osborne, who had gone back inside his house, came out again at 5:13 a.m. after speaking with police and was arrested.

Osborne was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree menacing. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.
