Nassau County police on Friday arrested a Philadelphia woman, charging her with stealing more than $150,000 from two Long Island companies in 2021 and 2022, according to a news release from the agency on Saturday.
Police arrested Danesha Glenn, 28, in Nassau alleging she stole from two businesses in Nassau County: Baldwin-based Zench Eye Care and an unnamed Syosset law firm.
In the first instance, on Sept. 20, 2021, detectives say Glenn sent Zench Eye Care a request for a $49,300 wire transfer. The company made the payment, believing it was from a vendor, but realized it was illegitimate the next day and reported it to law enforcement.
About nine months later, on June 17, 2022, Glenn allegedly stole a $101,151 check that had been issued by the Syosset law firm. She then altered it and deposited it into her personal bank account, according to police.
She was arraigned in Nassau County Superior Court in Mineola on Friday on charges of identity theft and two counts of grand larceny.
A police spokesman could not immediately specify where she was located or why she was there when she was arrested. It is also unclear why Glenn was not apprehended until nearly four years after the most recent crime.
Glenn’s only listed address is in Philadelphia, the spokesman said.
The Nassau County District Attorney’s Office did not immediately respond to a request for information about whether Glenn was released after her Friday court appearance.
Glenn is due back in court on Jan. 28.
