Oyster Bay has removed former Planning and Development Commissioner Frederick Ippolito’s name from a sign outside his office, a spokesman said Friday.

“The sign is down and was taken down in the ordinary course of business,” Brian Devine said in an email Friday afternoon.

Ippolito stepped down following his Jan. 26 guilty plea to felony tax evasion in federal court.

Earlier last week, his name plate remained outside his former office. Devine declined to say when it was removed. The day after his guilty plea, town officials said they had not made a decision on Ippolito’s employment status but after District Attorney Madeline Singas said that his continued employment would be illegal, Town Supervisor John Venditto announced that Ippolito no longer worked for the town.
