Freeport man, 77, found dead in canal, cops say
A man was removed from a Freeport canal Wednesday and pronounced dead at a hospital, Nassau police said Friday.
The victim was identified Friday as Hernan Ocampo Loaiza, 77, of Freeport, police said.
He was spotted about 7:40 a.m. Wednesday in the waters near South Main Street, authorities said, and the cause of death has not been determined.
