Freeport family uninjured during home invasion
Police are investigating the gunpoint robbery of a family inside their Freeport apartment by two masked men who fired at least eight shots into a snowbank while fleeing the scene, police said Tuesday.
The home invasion occurred late Sunday night inside the apartment on Graffing Place, Nassau County police said. The victims -- a 57-year-old man, his 23-year-old daughter and his 1-year-old grandson -- were not injured, police said.
Nothing was taken, police said, though the suspects "pointed the guns at the victims and looked through the bedroom dresser" before fleeing. In a Tuesday morning news release, police did not say whether the home was targeted.
The two men fired "at least eight shots" into a snowbank as they fled, police said.
The home invasion was reported in a 911 call at 11:17 p.m.
Police said the two suspects were about 5-foot-10 or 5-foot-11 and wore hooded sweatshirts and ski masks.
Both were armed with handguns, police said.
Police are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
