Freeport man charged in burglary spree
First squad detectives arrested a Freeport man late Sunday, charging him in a string of burglaries dating back to 2008, Nassau County police said.
Police arrested Julio Cesar Aldana-Perez, 27, of 220 Babylon Tpke., after they found him running from a residence on Maitland Street in East Meadow. Police were responding to a call of a burglary in progress and then heard glass breaking from the backyard, a report said.
Aldana-Perez was arrested after a short chase on foot, and then police discovered through DNA evidence he may be linked to seven other burglaries in East Meadow, Westbury and Merrick since October 2008, police said.
He was charged with six counts of burglary and two attempted burglaries, including the attempt at the Maitland Street address, police said.
He is scheduled for arraignment Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
