A Freeport man has been charged with vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated after his Suburban was involved in a collision with a BMW, killing a woman, Nassau police said Saturday.

Kevin Allen, 44, was driving the Suburban "while in an intoxicated condition" when the crash occurred about 8:30 p.m. Friday at the intersection of North Main Street and Woodside Avenue in Freeport, homicide detectives said.

The BMW driver, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

A boy, 15, who was in the BMW, suffered an arm injury, police said. The victims were not identified.

Allen, who had a lower-leg injury, was taken to a hospital, police said.

Police charged Allen with first-degree vehicular manslaughter, driving while intoxicated, aggravated unlicensed driving and possession of stolen property, police said.

He was awaiting arraignment Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead, police said.
