Freeport man critical after being stabbed during attack

A 27-year-old Freeport man is in critical condition Monday after he was punched then stabbed during an incident Sunday night on Broadway, police said.

Nassau County police said the incident took place at 9:40 p.m. The victim, whose identity was not released, was taken to a local hospital. The attackers have not been caught.

Police said the man "got into a confrontation" with the two attackers on Broadway and one man punched the victim while the other stabbed him in the chest with a kitchen knife. The men then fled.
