A Freeport merchant unlocked the front door of her card and variety store on Brooklyn Avenue Monday morning and was confronted with a man armed with a handgun, police said.

The victim, a 50-year-old woman, was bound with tape, at about 11 a.m., Nassau police said. The gunman took cash and jewelry before leaving, police said.

A short time later, the woman, who was not injured, freed herself and notified authorities, police said.

Detectives asked that anyone with information contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
