Freeport students accused in Adelphi thefts
Two high school students have been arrested on charges they stole electronics, including laptop computers, and cash at Adelphi University in Garden City, Nassau County police said Thursday.
Third Squad detectives said Troy Pollidore, 18, of 15 W. Woodbine Dr., and Melvin Abreu, 17, of 33 Rutland Rd., took the items between Sept. 19 and Wednesday afternoon, as they attended classes at the school.
On Sept. 19 and Sept. 24, the two entered four separate dormitory rooms and took two laptops, an iPod Touch, a cellphone and a wallet containing an unknown amount of cash, police said.
On Wednesday, officers from Adelphi Public Safety saw them leave another dorm room with a video gaming system and a laptop computer, police said.
Garden City police responded and arrested both men, Freeport High School students who were attending classes at the university, according to police. Pollidore also had a stolen credit card, police said.
Each man is charged with four counts of second-degree burglary; Pollidore also is charged with grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
They were scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in First District Court in Hempstead.
