A 16-year-old Freeport girl stabbed two teens — one fatally — in front of her home after an argument turned violent, Nassau County police said Sunday.

Jasmine Copeland, 16, was charged with first-degree manslaughter and second-degree assault in connection with the Saturday night stabbing of Abigail Thomas, 17, of Freeport, police said.

Thomas was pronounced dead at a hospital, according to authorities.

A 16-year-old girl, whose name police did not release, was stabbed in the upper left chest by Copeland, police said, but was later released from the same hospital.

Thomas was stabbed after she and the 16-year-old as well as a 9-year-old girl, got into a "verbal altercation" with Copeland about 8 p.m. Saturday outside the suspect's home, police said.

The 9-year-old girl was not injured and was released to a guardian, police said.

Copeland was arraigned Sunday in First District Court in Hempstead.
