A wake and funeral has been set for Kevin Jessup of Massapequa, the off-duty New York City police officer killed Sunday on the Southern State Parkway in an accident caused by an alleged drunken driver.
The wake is Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Grace Funeral Chapels, 607 N. Conduit Blvd. in Brooklyn. Jessup, 25, grew up in Brooklyn and moved to Massapequa three months ago to be closer to his girlfriend, his family said.
A memorial service will be held at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Friday. Burial will be at Plain Lawn Cemetery in Hicksville.
The accident was in the eastbound lanes at 5:35 a.m. near Bethpage State Park.
The driver of the other car, Jonathan Lopez, 20, of East Meadow, was charged with vehicular manslaughter, driving while intoxicated and other violations, police said. He pleaded not guilty and was ordered held on $100,000 cash bail, or $50,000 bond alternative.
