A Syosset man succumbed to his injuries Sunday afternoon after the driver of an SUV "failed to observe" him as he rode his motorcycle among a group of bikers in upstate Oneonta, New York State Police said.
Gabriel Mizrahi, 57, died after the 2025 BMW motorcycle he was operating collided with a 2021 Honda CRV, state troopers said in a news release. The Honda driver began turning left from County Highway 48 onto State Highway 28 while Mizrahi and his fellow motorcyclists were heading south on State Highway 28.
Mizrahi was "unable to avoid the collision," police said. Troopers responded to the crash about 1:52 p.m.
Another motorcyclist and civilians provided care for Mizrahi before EMS arrived and transported him to A.O Fox Hospital. He was "to be airlifted to a trauma center but succumbed to his injuries," the release said.
An investigation into the collision remains underway, troopers said.
