Police: Man hit by car in Garden City in critical condition
A 33-year-old man crossing Old Country Road was struck and critically injured by a car Wednesday night in Garden City, Nassau County police said.
Police did not release the identity of the victim.
The driver, identified only as a 50-year-old man, was not injured -- and was not charged.
Police said the accident occurred on Old Country Road just west of Franklin Avenue at 7:49 p.m. The victim was crossing from south to north when police said he was struck by an eastbound 1996 Volvo.
The vehicle was impounded for a brake and safety test.
