Glen Cove man, 75, killed while crossing road
A 75-year-old man was killed as he crossed a Glen Cove road Monday morning, most likely as he was taking his daily walk, police said.
Evelio Armas, of Glen Cove, was walking across Pratt Boulevard at 6:45 a.m. when he was hit by a pickup truck driven by a 62-year-old man on his way to work, Glen Cove police said. Armas was not crossing the street at the designated crosswalk, police said.
Armas was taken by ambulance to North Shore-LIJ Hospital at Glen Cove, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Armas' wife told police her husband often took morning walks.
Glen Cove Police said they do not anticipate any charges being filed against the driver, who was not injured.
