A Glen Cove man faces drug and gun charges after city police on Thursday executed a search warrant at his home, police said.

Josue Escobar, 22, of 23 Ravine Ave., is scheduled to be arraigned Friday on three counts of third-degree sale of a controlled substance, second- and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and four counts of third-degree possession of a controlled substance. He also is charged with second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Police said Escobar was arrested Thursday as he was leaving his residence.

In a subsequent search of the house, Glen Cove detectives recovered a loaded .45-caliber pistol, 48 grams of cocaine, 73 grams of methylenedioxy-methamphetamine -- also known as ecstasy or Molly -- digital scales and materials commonly used to package drugs.

Detectives also recovered more than $42,000 in cash, according to a news release from the Glen Cove Police Department.

Det. Lt. John Nagle said in the release that the department's crime prevention unit, consisting of Det. Brian Glennon and Police Officer Eddy Linares, targeted the residence after getting information that illicit drug sales were taking place there.
