The Glen Cove City Council is scheduled to vote Tuesday night on a proposal to extend a no-stopping zone near the Sea Cliff Long Island Rail Road station.

Stopping and parking are now barred on the north side of Sea Cliff Avenue, from Glen Keith Road to 65 feet east, toward the LIRR tracks.

The proposed ordinance would extend the prohibition by another 40 feet, to ban parking for 105 feet east of the intersection with Glen Keith.

Some residents of the Trousdell Village condominiums on Glen Keith Road had requested the change and police officials concurred, said city spokeswoman Lisa Travatello.

Drivers say cars stopped and parked along Sea Cliff Avenue block their sightlines, a problem exacerbated by the downhill slope of Sea Cliff toward the railroad tracks, she said.

Sea Cliff Avenue is a busy street, especially near train arrival and departure times, she said.

"It presents a safety challenge for residents of Glen Keith Road looking to get on Sea Cliff Road," Travatello said.
