A Glenwood Landing man who was lying on Northern Boulevard in Old Brookville was struck by a car and killed early Saturday, Nassau County police said.

The victim, whose name was not released pending family notification, was lying in the eastbound lane about 500 feet west of Whitney Lane when he was hit by a 2012 Audi Q5 at 12:32 a.m., police said. The victim died at the scene.

The vehicle passed a brake test administered by police and the car was released to the driver, a 54-year-old man.

No criminality was suspected as of Saturday morning, according to a police news release.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the crash and are probing possible reasons the victim had been lying in the road, a police spokeswoman said.
