A New Hyde Park real estate development company at the center of two recent political corruption trials is accused by the U.S. attorney’s office of a “pattern or practice” of noncompliance with standards for accessibility to the disabled in buildings it designs.

The lawsuit against Glenwood Management cites eight different residential properties in Manhattan, including Liberty Plaza downtown, that have or may have defects ranging from excessively high entrance thresholds to mailboxes that people in wheelchairs can’t reach, inaccessible electrical outlets and inadequate maneuvering room in bathrooms.

U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara, whose office filed the suit along with the Justice Department, called cooperating witnesses from Glenwood Management — New York’s largest state political donor — at the trials of both former Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver and Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos.

The suit, filed in Manhattan federal court Wednesday, asks for an order compelling Glenwood and two co-defendants to take remedial measures and use improved design practices in the future.

Glenwood officials could not be immediately be reached for comment.
