A 15-year-old boy was hospitalized in serious condition Monday evening after the go-kart he was driving collided with a sport utility vehicle in Oyster Bay Cove, police said.

The identity of the victim is not being released.

The 18-year-old driver of the SUV, a 2010 GMC Suburban, and four passengers were treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Nassau County police said the crash occurred just after 7 p.m. on Laurel Cove Road.

No criminal charges were filed as a result.

Police said, however, it is illegal to operate an unlicensed and unregistered vehicle, such as a go-kart, on a public street.
