Gold Mercedes carjacked in N. Valley Stream
Police are looking for an armed carjacker and a gold 2004 Mercedes-Benz E320 with New York plates after an early-morning robbery of a car service in North Valley Stream.
The driver, 50, whose name was not released, was unharmed, police said.
However, Nassau County police said the gunman made off with his Mercedes - and $470 in cash - in the 1:45 a.m. robbery Thursday.
Police said the victim was a driver for Laurelton Car Service on 224th Street in Laurelton, Queens, and picked up a customer who asked him to drive to an address on North Fletcher Street in North Valley Stream. As the driver neared the destination, the fare told him to turn onto Bowe Road, police said, and continue to the end of the block.
But police said the driver became suspicious and made a U-turn at Bell Court.
The customer then pulled out a silver handgun, pointed it at the driver and made him stop. He took the cash from the driver's pocket and ordered the driver out of the car.
The carjacker then drove off. Police said the car has New York license plates EXC 8628.
Police are searching for the car and the carjacker and are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
