The Nassau Democrats' lawsuit against a GOP redistricting plan stalled Thursday after the Republicans asked the judge to recuse himself.

The case was delayed until Tuesday so the Democrats could respond in writing to the request.

Nassau State Supreme Court Justice Steven Jaeger gave the Democrats until 5 p.m. Friday to file a response, and postponed hearing their request to stop the Board of Elections from implementing the redistricting plan law approved by the Nassau County Legislature until Tuesday.

The lead counsel for the Republicans, Peter Bee of Garden City, refused to discuss the case or his reason for requesting Jaeger's recusal.
