The Nassau Board of Elections will dispose of $134,000 worth of unused ballots from last month's Republican presidential primary. And it will cost still more to get rid of them.

Per state law, the board printed ballots for 110 percent of GOP registrants -- or 330,000 to 340,000 ballots, at 42 cents each, said Democratic Elections Commissioner William Biamonte.

Only 16,000 Republicans voted in the primary, leaving some 319,000 ballots to be destroyed after a required four-month holding period. Used ballots are held for two years. Biamonte said the board is seeking disposal prices.
