Olivia Reed, 18, of Freeport is a singer and dancer who also has excelled in academics. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Tri-M Music Honor Society and has performed at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall and throughout Europe as part of The Sound of America Honor Band and Chorus.

She also has done volunteer work and fundraising for organizations including Toys for Tots and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

Her plans: Attending the Benjamin T. Rome School of Music at Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. Her goals are to perform on Broadway and to teach and share her skills with students.

In her words: "I've grown a lot this year vocally and dance-wise and acting-wise, but I'm just thrilled to go to school where I can further my skills. That's what I'm really excited for - my first class."

The view from the guidance department: "She's just an outstanding girl. She's just so multifaceted and talented, and at the same time she does so well in school," said guidance counselor Arlene Slater. What makes Reed even more special, Slater said, is the way she's handled her talent: "She just carries herself with such elegance."
