A hearing to construct an apartment building at the site of a historic theater in the village of Great Neck Estates has been pushed back again, marking two years of delays.

The application, which had been scheduled to be heard at the Aug. 8 village board meeting, has now been adjourned to September.

The applicant, First Playhouse of Great Neck Corp., plans to raze the theater and replace it with a 20-unit apartment complex. The theater, at Maple Drive and Middle Neck Road, was built in 1922 and featured many popular Jazz Age performers such as the Marx Brothers.
