The Great Neck Water Pollution Control District has approved new connections to its sewer collection system.
Officials said the expansion -- for owners of homes and businesses -- comes after the district increased capacity to collect sewage, following recent plant upgrades.
Connections for property owners within the district's boundaries "are more economically feasible," but properties outside the district can still apply for the connections. Those who want to connect should mail a written request to the district's headquarters at 236 E. Shore Rd., Great Neck, NY 11023.
For owners of properties outside of the district, additional fees may apply that vary based on the assessed value of the property and the tax rate of the district.
District commissioner Jerry Landsberg said in a news release that new connections would not affect services for existing property owners.
