Great Neck woman faces Leandra's Law charge
A Great Neck woman was arrested Monday on a charge of felony drunken driving under Leandra's Law, after being involved in a crash in Bridgehampton, police said.
The crash occurred on Montauk Highway just after 6 p.m., Southampton Town police said. The driver, identified by police as Lee Introp, 47, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra's Law, which makes it a felony, even on first offense, to drive with a passenger under age 16 in the vehicle.
Police said Introp had her 8-year-old nephew in the car at the time of her arrest.
She also was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, police said.
Police said that Introp rear-ended a vehicle, which, in turn, rear-ended another vehicle.
She was arrested at the scene and held for arraignment Tuesday in Town Justice Court.
The child was released to the custody of his parents.
