Two mariners whose sailboat became grounded near the Glen Cove Marina got an assist Sunday from the U.S. Coast Guard.

At just past 12:30 p.m. a commercial salvage company tipped off Coast Guard Sector New York to “an aground 43-foot white sailing vessel with two people aboard,” according to a news release.

Crew on a 29-foot response boat from Coast Guard Station Kings Point were alerted. They arrived on the scene at around 1 p.m. and assisted the mariners, taking them to the Glen Cove Marina, the release said.

The sailboat “was later refloated during high tide,” according to the release, which also said that no injuries or pollution were reported.
