Police are searching for a group of five or six men who they said robbed two men sitting in a car in Massapequa Tuesday, threatening to shoot them if they resisted.

No gun was seen, though the victims were punched -- and one required hospitalization for treatment of a laceration under his eye, police said.

Nassau County police said the incident occurred on Jefferson Street at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday as the two men, in their 20s, sat in a parked car.

Police said the car was approached by a group of men, who began punching the victims. One of the victims was dragged from the car, police said. Police said one of the attackers threatened to shoot the victims "if they moved."

Jewelry, a cellphone and cash were stolen.

Police said the robbers also stole the sneakers worn by the victims before fleeing.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the attack to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain anonymous.
